The College of Charleston Arena is a worthy addition to historic Meeting Street.
The modern internal space will provide a wonderful place to watch division 1 college basketball for years to come.
The new arena provides the College of Charleston with a suitably grand venue.
The arena’s brick exterior blends well with the historic architecture of Charleston.
A new, modern weight room and training facilities compliment the new arena.
The spacious lobby allows for easy flow of foot traffic in and out of the arena.
A Strong Contribution to Downtown Charleston
Phase I
Construction consisted of a new 5,000 seat athletic arena and related site work. At 75,000 sq ft, the project footprint almost completely consumes the site. The main building adjoins an existing auditorium on one perimeter and property lines on the three other sides. All materials (including over 400 piles) had to be transported between twenty-foot wide openings through a historic brick fence.
Phase II
Construction involved renovating the existing gymnasium into a state of the art practice facility, racquetball courts, squash courts, aerobic rooms and weight training facilities.
